Can a broken capacitor be cut off
I''ve attached the pic in my 1st post, I think I broke it while I was trying to fit my air cooler on, been working 100% until i opened my case and replaced my air cooler, while looking at the graphics for damage I saw that cap hanging, 1 side holding the board, Thought it was dust but next minute it fell off with me ( Can''t find it anymore )

Solved Multiple choice question: How can a capacitor be
1- Capacitors provide resistance when a resistor is cut out off from the rest of the circuit. 2- Capacitors increase the overall voltage of the circuit, 3- Capacitors never run out of charge. 4- Capacitors can be used to store up charge in a circuit, so things can be temporarily powered when the battery or power source is disconnected.

Broken off capacitor near PCIE slot on motherboard, safe to use?
Hi, we have old motherboard asrock H67M that we noticed has missing capacitor near PCIE slot on motherboard. It is this capacitor. Here is the photo of missing capacitor on motherboard. We have found the capacitor in case and there is written 2.5V 820 AM on it. Is it safe to try turn it on with GPU in PCIE slot or it would fry motherboard or GPU?
Question
I pulled the gpu and saw that the capacitor was not in good shape. I poked it and the cap fell right off. Since the capacitor is right next to the pci express slot I assume it''s for that slot. Would it be ok to move the gpu to the lower slot and just cut the capacitor so it doesn''t short assuming that was the issue?
A broke off a GPU capacitor, what should I do?
If it is a capacitor and not just a really weirdly placed resistor, it''s a multi-layer ceramic capacitor (MLCC), so the way to tell what kind of capacitors you need is to find the package size of it. Basically get out some calipers, measure the cap you''ve got, and reverse engineer what the capacitor package is.
Do capacitors automatically release their energy over time?
Well-designed high voltage circuits have bleed resistors for discharging high voltage capacitors. Real (as opposed to ideal) capacitor has leakage resistance.
